As I have mentioned in my introduction, I like to modify Nerf toy Guns...
A few years back, I was working on turning the Nerf “Rought Cut” into a steam punk shotgun. Around the same time Saltatio Mortis brought out their album “das Schwarze I X I” (the title is a reference to alchemy and dark magic).
The whole album had a very strong steam punk-theme going on and there was even a comic that showed the band members in a steam punk world, fighting evil with their magic and all that stuff.
I took a lot of inspiration for my Nerf gun from this album and I even added the band logo to the handle.
This was the result:

to this day, this was the best and most detailed mod that I ever did. But I wanted to do something like this again. I wanted to create a Nerf mod based on “the Mystery of Time” and “Ghostlights” by Avantasia.
The first challenge was finding a gun that would fit, something with mechanical details to represent “the machine” but also enough free space to put the Avantasia-logo on it... and after some thinking about it I found the perfect Nerf Gun for this project, the Nerf “Spectre”

I had a lot of problems with this thing and almost everything went wrong.. starting of with a screw that I could not get out, up to at least 3 attempts until I got the Logo on it...

this is the first part that I finished: Image

I put more time just into this photo, then I usually take for most of my mods...

but well, now the main shell of the gun is almost done and I will post all the pictures here, but for now... just another, average “work in progress” picture of the logo:

Edit: for some reason the pcitures weren't working anymore so I replaced them

I love that the weapon of choice was named 'Spectre' for this project!
So fitting!

well, i actually named the project "Blackwell" (of cause after the Protagonist of the "Mystery of Time"/"Ghostlights"-storyline)
"Spectre" is the offical name that the toy gun i used, is sold under (one of the reasons why i choose it)

since i can't keep working on it because of my skin, i took a new "epic WIP" picture

I noticed the papers instantly as i recognised the 'font' and then the title.
It was a real 'awe' moment for me.
*sigh*

it took me forever to find a font that looked like the one from the booklet only more readable

i'm glad you like it ^^

i originaly made those papers becaus i was thinking about making a cosplay of Aaron Blackwell and i wanted to have something with me to pose with for photos... i couldn't get a clock like the one discribed in the story, and carring something like that around on a convention was also not a good idear.. so i just made Aaron's journal (at least that's what i think, the story-text in the booklet is suppose to be)

The font in the booklet s indeed VERY hard to read and i must confess i only read through it once as it hurt my eyes. But you did an exceptional job at matching it up.
:D

so i just made Aaron's journal (at least that's what i think, the story-text in the booklet is suppose to be)

I imagine so too.
I know i carry one around with me and i'm no scientist or such, so i imagine his character definitely would to recrd his observations and thoughts.

i sometimes think i have to many strange hobbies...

so, i finished the tiny little clocks that will go on the handel of the gun.
Image
i wanted to make them look like the clock from the Mystery of Time cover but this was just too tiny to fit in all the details.. so i made it a lot simpler...

OMG NO WAY!
Why would you think that?
It's great and interesting.

What do you use to add the bits and coverings?
I'm assuming paint work plays a large part but is it special molding plastic/clay or someone?

And that clock face looks wonderful. Again, what did you use to make that?

it's not about the strangeness, it's about teh number of hobbies... days are just to short...

"A little more time?
I admit I would take"

(sorry, i just had to...)

Muppet wrote:What do you use to add the bits and coverings?

on the old shotgun i used a special moddeling plastic and some negativ "stamps" that i made by pressing things like a skull pendant into thermoplastic.
but on this gun, i used technology... the clock faces and the Avantasia logo are 3D printed

kinda, i share it with my brother

so... i am just about to put the whole gun together... i scartched the paint when i put the sronger spring in, so i had to go back and repaint it ... when the protective top-coat has dryed i'll put it all back together
and maybe, i'll take some pictures today (but more likely tomorrow)
