I will just post impression as the show goes...

Tears streamed down my face three times by now.

Tobi speaking in German, then realizing more than half of the crowd can't speak German at all really cracked me up (it only took him what...4 Avantasia performances to get it? :D :D )

Herbie really struggled during Reach out for The Light, it really did sound bad, guess that's why he is a backing not a lead. I was nervously shaking before the "in your mind" part because I knew for sure Herbie wouldn't manage to pull it, and it's been a dream of mine to hear Tobi finally pull it off live..and HE DID. :o :o :o Tears x1

Intro to Farewell was amazing as well, people really know it by first note already, and the sea of people waving in sync always gives me the chills and tears me up. Tears x2

Seeing Amanda so happy during "Farewell" :hug :hug Tears x3

Those are my impressions so far, will update as I watch!

This guy's not a hologram, he's Geoff Tate!

Sascha wearing Tobi's hat!

Herbie struggling again. He's trying to sing everything in chest voice, which is impossible. By the way, guitars sound really amazing this year, for example compared to 2011.

Runaway train was beautiful as always. On a side not, even Bob Catley sounds more powerful than Herbie and he's pushing 70.

Promised Land, it was fun watching Jorn and Tobi having fun "scratching their backs", and Tobi finally pulling off that scream without being interrupted as compared to 2008 live version :hug

Tobi teasing Kreator fans again

OMG that little bunch starts screaming Kreator so silently, and the ENTIRE crowd replies with TOBI! Holy shit this is gold right there. So much love.

And Lost in Space for the end, totally love it when the crowd sings the break on their own :hug :hug

Tobias "SAMMIT" in the interview after the show   Must have been alter ego with the 'stash

All in all, wish I could have been there...can't wait for the live recording on YT !

Did we watch the same thing?

I was watching the stream live and don't remember Reach Out or Farewell...

I found it funny how Tobi forgot the lyrics a couple of times.

I do agree that Herbie had some issues nailing the Kiske vocals in Shelter. Nor did I like Tate on Avantasia.

Bob Fucking Catley! I love this mans voice and him live is awesome. I loved his little "come on" and "yeah" flairs.

And lastly JORN this man has the most consistently amazing voice. He really knocked it out of the park on this. Tobi was right!

In case anyone missed it...

I was about to cry during Runaway Train, but then Tobi messed up the lyrics of the refrain and i couldn´t help but smile^^ and when Jorn corrected him buring the 2nd refrain, i was laughting....

but i have to agree on the thing with Herbie, he´s just not made for the high notes....

also, the tecnichens not turing up the mics in time was a real shame....

But i realy enjoyed it and i loved to see Tobi wearing the black Tophat from the Dying for an Angel-video... i still want a hat like that

3SAT had the full 2 hour stream, while the stream on Wacken's site was cut short by one hour so you only got second half of the show. Hopefully someone recorded the full stream and will put it on YT :D

And yeah, it's a true shame, ever since the beginning they didn't turn up the snare volume on time, then on Tobi's mic, he even actually said "hey" twice on during the chorus to the technicians...and during Sign of the Cross it took them like 5 seconds per singer to even turn on their mics after they already started singing...wouldn't it be obvious to have them at least turned on by default? *sigh*

Oh thank you so much! It's a pain in the ass not being able to access german sites due to some silly restrictions.

I suppose splicing the video into songs then uploading them should work :D

Hello. I'm new here but I was inspired to make an account after watching the Wacken stream. It was my first time watching Avantasia live even if it was just through stream, but I loved it!!!! (except the unfortunate buffering that caused me to miss parts of some songs).

I really really loved the hat Tobi wore (the first one). It looked like it had those Mexican style day-of-the-dead colorful dancing skeletons on it, plus that pink feather! Nobody else could pull off wearing a hat like that, but it really fit Tobi.

Also I couldn't help laughing when Tobi introduced a song saying he was inviting a special guest, who was a long haired blond angel. Just when I thought he was talking about Amanda, he called down Herbie instead

All the songs were wonderful listening to live, even if in a few places I seemed to know the lyrics better than Tobi  I've heard he normally forgets some lyrics so I guess it was to be expected :)

Let The Storm Descend Upon You was my favorite. I think I like live versions more than the album version probably because I get to hear Jorn roaring more  Oh, and it was great when Tobi was telling the audience how awesome Jorn is and Jorn was trying to be modest and Tobi was just like shut up I'm trying to compliment you  It was pretty cute.

I feel so lucky I was able to watch and experience this concert. I've never really been a concert-goer and hadn't even thought about going to concerts of bands I like, but I saw a few clips of Avantasia concerts on Youtube a few weeks ago and was completely smitten. So hearing about this Wacken concert where there would be livestream made me so happy and I couldn't miss it! It's really sad the official Wacken stream only showed the second half of the performance, but I found a website (http://schoener-fernsehen.com/tv/stream/3SAT) that streamed the whole thing even to people outside of Germany.

I felt like an idiot rocking out like nuts by myself in front of my laptop in an upstairs room while my parents ate dinner without me downstairs (I told them to not bother me until I let them know it was over), but it was so worth it. Someday hopefully I will be able to go to an Avantasia concert for real and be in the company of other excited fans so I can feed on their energy and go really really nuts :P

I only remembered at 10:30pm Saturday night that the live stream was happening, so I quickly got set up and then realised I wanted to see the 4 bands that were before Avantasia....so night of no sleep included Powerwolf, Alice Cooper, Amon Amarth & Volbeat!

Needless to say, the stream finished 9am our time so we went to sleep for a couple of hours afterwards...so totally worth it though! :headbang
