I'm always fascinated by certain events during the course of the day that shock and surprise. :) I'm not sure I've ever created a topic in this forum but I thought this was a good idea and something we didn't have. 8)

WSYT: How bad my vision seems to have gotten while driving in the dark. I'm not sure what it is but I was struggling this morning with the rain and dark and obviously need to go to the eye doctor to see what is going on. 8)

Actually.. my coaxial cable for cable internet did..there's some weird intermittent thing going on where the internet just dies, but if I go outside, disconnect the cables and then reconnect them, it's all fine. There's some amount of electricity that goes through there so I get tingly-shocked each time I do it.

As for the kind of shock that Harmon MEANT the topic to be for: I'm REALLY surprised I don't feel sleepy...

What shocked me today was waking up to find out n the news that the Police shot dead a 15 year old boy who had been weilding knives around.
*shakes head*

Such a sad, sad situation and a senseless one. I don't know why they didn't just disarm him or wound him.

When it's a situation like that, it is really sad if they could have found a way to just TALK him down :(

In general though...I know that here, police always shoot to kill. Think about it.. if a criminal is on the run and you're shooting at them, the person is totally fearing for their life. Seeing as it's possibly their last moments to live, they can and WILL do crazy things like just open fire on everyone, which just causes a lot more danger.. But in the case of knife wielding?? :(

Yeah i know. Down here they aren't so much trained to kill, but to hit the largest part of the body which is the torso. Apparently they used capsicum spray and warning shots as well as trying to talk him down as his parents called the police before he left as he tried leaving home with the knives but the parents stopped him. But he did end up stealing knives from the local Kmart and then went wandering with them and threatening Police when the Police confronted him.
A very sad situation, especially since he wasn't weilding a gun.
Hope he rests in peace.
